11 members of GB Boxing to compete at upcoming Bocskai tournament
GB BOXING will take part in their first tournament of 2023 when they send 11 boxers to Debrecen, Hungary for this year’s Bocskai tournament.
The competition will run from the 7th-11th February and will see three women and seven men from the both the academy and podium squads compete as well as Cindy Ngamba who will also travel with the squad but will represent the Fair Chance team.
Scotland’s Sam Hickey will be boxing for the first time since winning Commonwealth Games gold back in August last year.
When he steps through the ropes he will also be competing at a new weight, as he makes the step up to light-heavyweight where he will joined by teammate, George Crotty.
After a memorable 2022 which saw her win a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the European Championships, Demie-Jade Resztan returns to action at minimumweight.
England’s Hannah Robinson and Olivia Holmes complete the women’s line-up, with the latter competing for the first time as a GB Boxer, having won bronze at last year’s U22 European championship.
Hamza Mehmood will step through the ropes hoping to replicate his impressive form last year which saw him earn three medals including one gold at the Golden Gong.
Completing the team travelling to Debrecen is light-welterweight Joe Tyers and heavyweight Patrick Brown as well as academy squad members, Billy Adams and Ike Ogbo.
The 11 boxers will represent England, Scotland, and the Fair Chance team at the Bocskai. The full team is:
