Boxers secure four medals at Feliks Stamm with Orie winning gold

BOXERS from Great Britain have returned from this year’s Felik Stamm tournament in Poland with four medals, with super-heavyweight Delicious Orie winning gold.

Hannah Robinson and Kerry Davis took silver whilst there was a bronze medal for Wales’ Ioan Croft.

2022 Commonwealth Games champion, Delicious Orie was the only boxer to win his bout on finals day.

The super-heavyweight put in a dominant display to beat Ukraine’s Oleksandr Hrytsiva via unanimous points decision to seal the gold medal.

The 25-year-old had also beat Trindad and Tobago’s Paul Nigel at the semi-final stage.

Kerry Davis and Hannah Robinson were both narrowly beaten in their final bouts meaning they had to settle for silver.

For Davis it was her third bout of the competition following victories over Anynur Rzajeva (Azerbaijan) and Melissa Gemini(Italy) prior to her middleweight final split defeat (4:1) to France’s Davina Michel.

Whilst at light-welterweight, Hannah Robinson beat Korina Vovk of Ukraine unanimously to reach the final where, in a tight contest with Ireland’s Shauna O’Keefe, she came out on the wrong side of a narrow 3:2 split.

Three other boxers competed at the Feliks Stamm. They were Savannah Stubley, Olivia Holmes and Lewis Williams but all unfortunately missed out on the medal stages.
