Commonwealth Games England has announced a 14-strong boxing team ready to take the ring at Glasgow 2026
An evenly split team of seven men and seven women will take to the Commonwealth canvas later this month, as Team England looks to extend its record as the most successful boxing nation in the history of the Games.
The team of 14, who are all part of Great Britain’s Olympic programme and train with the GB Boxing squad at its gym in Sheffield, has a lot of international experience and a track-record of winning medals across the world.
Paris 2024 Olympian, Chantelle Reid, heads to her first Commonwealth Games, having earned a bronze medal at last year’s World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.
Forced to step away from the sport as a teenager following a back injury, she undertook an apprenticeship in wealth management before returning to the ring in early 2023.
She considered turning professional after Paris 2024 but was inspired to continue following her dream of winning an Olympic medal by a visit to her old primary school.
The 28-year-old heads to Glasgow in good form having won a gold at the Strandja Cup in April and bronze at the World Boxing Cup: China 2026 last month.
Joining her in the team for Glasgow will be world under-19 champion, Ruby White.
The 19-year-old boasts an impressive junior record and steps up to the Commonwealth Games having won the prestigious SportsAid One-to-Watch award in 2024.
Fellow youngster Lauren Mackie is also selected, with the talented 20-year-old arriving in Glasgow off the back of a World Boxing Cup bronze in April and her senior World Boxing Championships debut last year.
She will box alongside European Under-23 Champion 2024, Sacha Hickey, who is enjoying another strong year having secured welterweight bronze at the World Boxing Cup in Brazil in April and silver at the most recent edition in China.
Elise Glynn will represent Team England for the first time, having won multiple World Boxing Cup medals, and she is joined by fellow West Midlands fighter and two-time World Boxing Cup medallist Lucy Kings-Wheatley.
World Boxing Championship quarter-finalist Mary-Kate Smith heads to her first Games following her run to the last eight in Liverpool last year.
On the men’s side, twin talents Will and Paddy Hewitt are set for their Commonwealth Games debuts, having both won international medals in the last year.
They are joined by the 2025 European U23 Champion, Damar Thomas, who reached the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championships last year.
He underlined his credentials for this summer with victory in his most recent outing at the Strandja Cup in Bulgaria in February and will be looking to continue England’s strong heritage in the super-heavyweight division, which has seen it win gold at the last three Games with victories for Joe Joyce at Glasgow 2014, Frazer Clarke on the Gold Coast in 2018 and Delicious Orie at Birmingham 2022.
Patris Mughalzai also won bronze at the Strandja Cup, following back-to-back bronze medals at the World Boxing Cup events in Brazil and Kazakhstan in 2025, and will compete at welterweight.
He will be joined by light-heavyweight, Oladimeji Shittu and bantamweight, Ellis Trowbridge, who won gold and bronze respectively at the World Boxing Cup Finals in India in November 2025.
The team is completed by heavyweight, Isaac Okoh, who comes into the tournament in great form after winning gold and silver at his two most recent World Boxing Cup appearances in India in November 2025 and China in June 2026.
The latter included a career best victory over Paris 2024 bronze medallist and world ranked number two, Enmanuel Reyes Pla of Spain.
Team England Chef de Mission, Jonathon Riall, said: “Our boxing team really packs a punch ahead of what will be a standout spectacle at Glasgow 2026. Team England has such a rich history in the ring and I know our team in Glasgow will do their best to continue that record.”
Super-heavyweight, Damar Thomas, said: “England has a very strong tradition of doing well at my weight and I am looking forward to continuing this at Glasgow 2026. We have a very good team that is packed with talent and a lot of boxers coming into this tournament in excellent form so hopefully we can all do well.
“It’s great that the Games are being held in Great Britain as it makes it a lot easier for our friends and family to come and support us, so we are all looking forward to representing England at Glasgow 2026.”
Ruby White added: “I’m incredibly excited and proud to have been selected to represent England at the Commonwealth Games. Pulling on the England vest for my Commonwealth Games debut is a huge honour, and it’s another special milestone in what has, already, been an amazing journey.
“At just 19, I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve been given, and I’m determined to make the most of this one. I’m ready to perform on the biggest stage, show what I’m capable of, and make everyone who’s supported me proud. I can’t wait to get out there and show the world what I can do.”
The Boxing Team Leader for Team England at Glasgow 2026, Chris Connelly, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting moment to announce this team. Every athlete has earned their place through years of hard work, dedication and consistent performances in the ring, and it’s fantastic to see so many of them come through the England Boxing pathway. This squad reflects the depth of talent and strength of boxing across England.
“Selection is a proud milestone for the athletes, but it’s an equally proud moment for the coaches, clubs and families who have supported them every step of the way. We hope clubs across the country look at this team with pride, knowing they’ve played an important part in making this achievement possible.”
