GB Boxers set to travel to Finland for this year’s Gee Bee tournament

GB BOXING will send sixteen members of its podium squad to Helsinki, Finland for this year’s Gee Bee tournament which will run from 13th-16th April.

The competition follows on from last week’s success at the Socikas which saw six boxers return with medals as the programme continues its preparations ahead of the first Olympic qualifier later this year.

Of those six boxers to medal in Lithuania, four are straight back into action. Kiaran MacDonald will be looking to earn back-to-back gold medals whilst Ramtin Musah, Harris Akbar and Ramtin Musah will be hoping to improve on their bronzes.

Light-heavyweight Sam Hickey also competed last week but just missed out on the medal stages, he too will travel with the team to Helsinki.

Elsewhere, featherweight Olivia Holmes will box for the second time this year, having won gold at the Bocskai in February which was her first senior competition.

Like Holmes, Demie-Jade Resztan and Hannah Robinson both also picked up medals at the Bocskai, with both settling for silver, and will also be back in action in Finland’s capital.

The Gee Bee will also see a return to competition for four members of the squad who are yet to step foot in the ring this year.

Ioan Croft’s last bout came in the final of the 2022 Commonwealth Games where he was crowned welterweight champion whilst for Tokyo 2020 Olympian Charley Davison,  lightweight Shona Whitwell and middleweight Kerry Davis, their last outing came when they narrowly missed out on the medal stages at the European Championships.

Completing the squad is light-flyweight Savannah Stubley, featherweight Billy Adams, light-welterweight, Joe Tyers and light-heavyweight George Crotty
