GB Boxing names team to compete in Kazakhstan at second World Boxing Cup event of 2025

14 boxers from the GB Boxing squad are set to compete in the second World Boxing Cup event of 2025, which will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 30th June to 6th July.

The event follows the year’s first World Boxing Cup, which took place in April in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, where eight members of the team won medals. Among them were Isaac Okoh (90kg) and Damar Thomas (90+kg), who both claimed silver.

The heavyweight duo of Okoh and Thomas will return to action in Astana, aiming to go one better than last time.

The same can be said for Patris Mughalzai (65kg) and Dimeji Shittu (80kg), who also competed in Brazil. Mughalzai secured a bronze medal, while Shittu narrowly missed out on reaching the medal stages.

Elsewhere, two-time Olympian Charley Davison (54kg) is quickly back in action, having recently won silver at the Czech Grand Prix — her first competition since appearing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Lucky Kings-Wheatley (60kg) and Kerry Davis (75kg) are continuing their comebacks following lengthy injury layoffs. Both returned to the ring for the first time in over a year at the Grand Prix.

Also included in the squad are Kelsey Oakley (51kg), Sameenah Toussaint (57kg), Kyle Shaw-Tullin (75kg), and Teagn Stott (85kg), who most recently competed at a World Boxing event in Poland, the Feliks Stamm, where all four earned bronze medals. Paddy Hewitt (70kg), who also competed in Warsaw, is named in this week’s squad.

Completing the lineup is Jack Dryden (60kg), who heads into the competition following four strong performances at the Eindhoven Box Cup, where he narrowly lost to a Paris 2024 gold medallist in the lightweight final. Dione Burman (65kg), who was crowned champion at the recent Haringey Box Cup, also features in the squad.

All fourteen boxers will represent England at the world championships.  The full team is:
