Six women to compete in upcoming Balkan tournament in Bulgaria

SIX women from the GB Boxing squad will compete in this week’s Balkan tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria from 20th-22nd  September 2022.

The team includes Tokyo 2020 Olympian, Charley Davison, in her first outing since the world championships in May.  Davison has moved-up a weight class from flyweight (51kg) and will now box at bantamweight (54kg) which will be an Olympic weight class for the first time at Paris 2024.

She will be joined in Sofia by lightweight (60kg), Shona Whitwell, who also competed at the world championships.

At light-middleweight (70kg), Jodie Wilkinson, will compete for the first time since reaching the quarter-final stages of the recent Commonwealth Games while Tori Ellis Willets will box in the flyweight division (51kg).

The team is completed by two relative newcomers.  At welterweight (66kg), Hannah Robinson, will make her first appearance since joining the World Class Programme (WCP) full-time earlier this year.

In the featherweight (57kg) division, Elise Glynn from the Emerging Talent squad will compete in her first outing with GB Boxing.
