GB Boxing sends 10 boxers to compete in upcoming Socikas tournament
10 MEMBERS of the GB Boxing squad will travel to Lithuania to compete at the Socikas tournament from 30th March-1st April 2023.
The team, with representatives from all of the home nations, is made up of ten men and one woman.
The tournament in Kaunas will aid the continued preparations of the squad ahead of June’s first Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier at the European Games in Krakow, Poland.
Several members of the team will be boxing for the first time since winning a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games last year, including: flyweight Kiaran MacDonald (silver), light-welterweight Reese Lynch (gold), light-middleweight Garan Croft (bronze), light-heavyweight Taylor Bevan (silver) and super-heavyweight Delicious Orie (gold).
Also competing for the first time since stepping through the ropes at the Games in Birmingham is Harris Akbar and Kerry Davis, who both narrowly missed out on the medal stages, the latter being the only female member of the team to travel to Lithuania.
As well as Wales’ Taylor Bevan, GB Boxing is sending two other light-heavyweights to Kaunas, they are Sam Hickey and Ramtin Musah, who both took silver medals away from their most recent tournaments, the Bocskai and Tammer respectively.
Heavyweight Patrick Brown also picked up silver at the Bocskai and like his teammates will be looking to go one step further this time out.
The 10 boxers will represent England, Scotland and Wales at the Socikas. The full team is:
