GB Boxing’s Podium2Pro boxer Lewis Richardson wins third bout as a professional on return to the ring in birmingham

Lewis Richardson claimed his third professional victory at the weekend with a comprehensive points win over Ivan Trofimovich of Spain at the BP Pulse Live Arena in Birmingham.

It was Richardson’s first victory since he joined GB Boxing’s Podium2Pro programme, whereby he is trained and managed by GB Boxing. 

In Birmingham, he was cornered by GB Boxing Senior Podium Coach, Gary Hale, who was supported by physiotherapist, Aiden Doyle.

Boxing at middleweight, Richardson delivered a solid performance to win all six rounds on the judges’ scorecards in his first bout for over 12 months, following surgery on a bicep tendon tear at the end of 2025. 

Speaking after the bout, Richardson said: “I feel good – 3-0 and not dropped a round yet.

“I’ve been out of the ring for over a year, so it was a good performance. I thought there was a good chance to hurt him in there, but the finish just didn’t come tonight.

“Professional boxing is a tough game but I live for those moments and there’s many more to come, for sure.” 

Podium2Pro was established in 2022 in response to requests from boxers that wanted to remain within the GB Boxing environment after signing professional contracts. Under the arrangement, professional boxers continue to train with the Olympic programme in Sheffield where they are coached and managed by GB Boxing in return for a percentage of their earnings.

Before turning professional in 2025, Lewis Richardson spent more than six years as part of the GB Boxing squad and won a bronze medal at light-middleweight at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
