GB Boxing’s Podium2Pro World Champion Lauren Price returns to the ring on saturday night to defend her world titles

Tokyo 2020 gold medallist, Lauren Price will make her return to the ring on Saturday 4 April 2026 when she defends her WBC, IBF and IBO welterweight world titles against Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Piñeiro Aquino at the Cardiff International Arena in Wales.

It will be the first time Price has competed since March 2025 when she defeated Natasha Jonas at the Royal Albert Hall in London on a historic all female card to add the WBC and IBF world titles to the IBO belt she secured by stopping Jessica McCaskill of the USA at the Cardiff International Arena in May 2024.

The fight with McCaskill was Price’s only previous professional bout on Welsh soil and the 31-year-old from Ystrad Mynach near Newport is looking to put on another winning display for the home fans when she takes on the unbeaten Puerto Rican this Saturday.

Price said: “It’s been a while since my last fight so I am really keen to get back in the ring. I have continued to train and tick-over but it’s not the same when you don’t have a date to aim for so it’s really good that we have managed to get this fight in place.

“The fact it is in Cardiff is brilliant. The Welsh fans always come out to support me and I want to make sure I put on a performance for them. It’s really important for me to represent Wales and I want to be remembered as one of our country’s best ever boxers.

“It all starts again on Saturday. It’s going to be a busy year and I just want to get the ball rolling with a good win and then continue to climb the ladder from there.”

Following a glittering amateur career that saw her win Commonwealth, European, world and Olympic gold medals, Price signed a deal promotional deal with Boxxer after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (which had been delayed by one year and took place in 2021).

She made her professional debut in June 2022 and is part of GB Boxing’s Podium2Pro programme, which provides a pathway into the professional ranks for boxers that want to continue to work with coaches and staff from the Olympic programme.

Price was one of the first boxers to join Podium2Pro and became its first world champion when she defeated McCaskill in May 2024.

As part of Podium2Pro, she continues to base herself at the World Class Programme (WCP) for boxing in Sheffield where she is trained and managed by GB Boxing.

In her corner on Saturday night will be GB Boxing’s Performance Director, Rob McCracken, Senior Podium Coach, Gary Hale, and Senior Physiotherapist, Aiden Doyle, as Price looks to extend her unbeaten professional record to 10 wins from 10 contests.

The contest will be televised live on BBC television from 18:00 on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website, with coverage on BBC Two starting at 20:00.
