GB Boxing confirms the departure of Odel Kamara from the World Class Programme for boxing
GB Boxing has confirmed the departure of Odel Kamara from the World Class Programme (WCP) for boxing.
He will no longer train with the GB Boxing squad at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and is free to pursue career opportunities elsewhere.
The 22-year-old joined the WCP in 2024 and enjoyed success at a number of international tournaments. He won gold at the Dacal Memorial World Cup in Mostoles in September 2024 and the World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield in November of the same year. He also claimed silver at the World Boxing Cup – Brazil 2025 in Foz do Iguaçu, where he remained unbeaten but was withdrawn from the final due injury.
His highpoint with GB Boxing came in September 2025 at the World Boxing Championships in his home city of Liverpool, where he won a bronze medal at light-middleweight (M70kg).
GB Boxing’s Performance Director, Rob McCracken, said: “Odel is talented and boxed really well in winning a world championship medal in Liverpool however he has chosen to leave the squad and take his career in a new direction.
“We would like to thank Odel for his efforts and achievements during his time with GB Boxing and wish him the best of luck in the next stage of his career.”
